Biscuit Cakes

I have friends coming to visit this weekend so thought I would make them some special biscuit cupcakes, because who doesn't like cake and biscuits? That means that when you combine the 2, surely you have a recipie of perfection!

Edible Animals

I tried my hand at modelling animals out of fondant for the first time last night.  I loved it and I'm thinking I might go the whole hog and create a whole edible fondant farmyard!!

Oreo so nice

I played around with a different flavour cupcake tonight using Oreo biscuits to take to my friends house this weekend to say thank you for sparing her time helping me with some design bits and bobs.  Thanks Melanie!

Garrett Frill Decoration

It's amazing how simple techniques can create stunning effects.

Below is my first triple Garratt Frill using fondant icing and decorated with royal icing and tiny fondant flowers.

This used to decorate the edge of a cake would look really pretty.

Royal Icing Techniques

I've been experimenting decorating with Royal Icing and here are some of the results...

Embossing and painting

Freehand Royal Icing patterns and brush embroidery

Edging and piping using a medium star nozzle

 Practicing straight lines - 1.5 plain nozzle

 Stacking straight lines with a steady hand
Starting 1 line through to 5 on top of each other
(line 4 broke when dried!)
